Dean's Breakfast Bacon Cheeseburger With Honey Sriracha Aioli Recipe and Review
From:

Finished Product

What you'll need:
Hamburger - enough for 4 patties (they recommend 1.5lbs)

Hamburger Buns - (4) (they recommend Hawaiian Brand)
Eggs - (4)
Bacon - at least 8 pieces
American Cheese - at least 8 slices
Butter - total of 1/2 stick or so
Mayonnaise - total of 1/2 cup (the REAL kind, not Miracle Whip)
Sriracha - total of 1 Tablespoon
Honey - total of 1 Teaspoon
Lemon Juice - total of 1 Teaspoon
Garlic - total of 1 clove
Cooking Oil - total of 1 Tablespoon
Salt and Pepper - enough to flavor

To Start:
Make the Aioli

Start with putting 1/2 cup of Mayonnaise into a bowl

We used Hellmann's Mayonnaise ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Add the 1 Tablespoon of Sriracha
We used the Walmart brand of Sriracha

Add the 1 Teaspoon of Lemon Juice
We used the ReaLemon Brand available at Walmart

Add the 1 Teaspoon of Honey
We used the Walmart Brand of Honey

Finally add the 1 Clove of Garlic (mashed)
*we did not have cloved garlic so we used Minced Garlic about 1 tablespoons worth which we crushed down before adding to the Aioli mix*
We used the Walmart Brand of Minced Garlic

Mix it all Up and Put in the Fridge till the rest of the meal is ready ๐Ÿ˜€
It should look like this after mixing

Time to Make the Burger Patties:

Form up 4 Burger Patties
Salt and Pepper both sides to taste
We used the 80/20 mix Hamburger from our local grocer: Save-A-Lot

Get 2 Fry Pans up on the stove:

In one pan, put the 1 tablespoon of cooking oil into the pan and start heating it up on low
We used Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Walmart - aaannnddd we didn't measure it out, we just spread some into the pan ๐Ÿ’

In the other pan put the Bacon (at least 8 pieces) and start cooking on medium

We used the Walmart brand of bacon - just half of the normal bacon package

Now add your Burger Patties to the pan with the oil in it

Keep an eye on both pans till all the meat is fully cooked to taste and take them off of the heat source

Now put 2 American Cheese Slices on each Hamburger Patty, put a lid or a cover over the pan and let the cheese melt while you move onto the next step (make sure they are not still on the heat source or you will burn your burgers!!)
We used American Cheese Slices from Walmart

Time to make the Eggs:

We have a griddle in the middle of our stove so that is what we used to cook the 4 eggs on - you can use a pan if you do not have a griddle ;)
The directions in the recipe say to use butter to cook the eggs in but we took a spoonful or two of the bacon grease to cook our eggs in AND the recipe states to cook the eggs to the point of being 'Dippy' - we had one or two break.....  so over-hard is how 2 of them ended up

DO NOT DO WHAT I DID AND GET EGGSHELLS EVERYWHERE ๐Ÿ˜‚
Don't worry, I picked it out before I even flipped the eggs over!
(if you don't see it right away, it's on the bottom of the left egg ๐Ÿ˜ซ)

Last of the Cooking Parts:

Grill the Hamburger Buns up

Put a little bit of butter either on the buns themselves or in a pan and heat them up till the buns are golden brown and slightly crispy

Now it's time to Assemble your Masterpiece!!

Take your Aioli and slather both sides of each bun with it

Now put your Burger with the cheese on

Add your Bacon Pieces

Place your Egg on top of the bacon

Now your ready to put your bun top on and ENJOY!!

The recipe in the book says that both prep and cook time should take about 15 minutes each.

This was not the case for us - we ended up having a prep and cook time of closer to 20 to 25 minutes each.

Overall it was not that hard to make but it felt like there were a lot of things to do to make this burger.  I am by no means a professional cook, nor do I usually cook at home - my son or partner do most of the time, so for me, this was a ton of steps to make a burger ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜

Impressions:

We had mixed reviews for this burger!

My son loved it - he said it was his new favorite burger
My partner said she would eat it again - meaning she liked it but wouldn't go out of her way to make it
My daughter liked it but would remove the bacon from the recipe
I did not really care for it and if given a choice would choose a different meal to eat

Points of Notice:
  • It is not spicy by any means but it does have a small kick to it after a few bites from the sriracha
  • The garlic was definitely noticeable the way that we made it - I would not put as much in if we were to make it again
  • I thought the burger was too salty in general!  Salt on the burger and egg, plus the natural salt flavors of the bacon and butter on the buns made it almost too much to handle...
  • It is INCREDIBLY filling!!!  Not one of us was able to finish our burgers (I'm so glad we did not have a side dish with it!!)
Ultimately:

I personally will not make this burger again - it did not make my taste buds happy but my son and partner plan on making this again on nights that I work late.

Have you tried this burger before?  How did you like it?  Did you make any alterations to the recipe?  Let me know in the comments!!
