“You and me? We have nothing to talk about. We have nothing in common, so move along.”

Della stood her ground and pointed her finger into my chest, poking me as she spoke.

“We do have shit in common, asshole. You need to figure yourself out. Figure out exactly what it is that you are doing and what the fuck it is that you want. Because this,” she motioned to me, “…is pathetic.”

“I don’t need your uppity, righteous bullshit, little girl.”

“Uppity?” Della spat. “You are calling me uppity? A fucking junkie who did shit to stay high that would make a whore blush. Don’t you dare think you know a fucking thing about me, Rex Whitney. You don’t know shit. But, I know you. Stop hiding behind your bullshit party boy routine. Everyone knows where you come from. All you are now is the sad boy who is still fighting mommy and daddy. Fuck you, Rex. Go clean up.”

On that last word, Della turned and started to jog back down the road towards town.

And I stood there pissed off that she fucking talked to me like that.

Her 5th grade teacher predicted she would be a published author some day, so J took matters into her own hands and made the prediction come true with her first book, giving her a taste of the writing world.
